About

I graduated from the University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire with a bachelor's degree in biology. I studied secondary education at Augsburg University in Minneapolis. I completed my student teaching experience at Jefferson Senior High in Bloomington, MN. I earned a license to teach Life Sciences, grades 9-12, in 2018.

I believe that students best learn science by practicing the scientific method. Practicing the scientific method is fun: students become engaged and gain a sense of ownership from experiments that they themselves design. It can also be a great way to retain knowledge of content since students are engaged. Most importantly, though, practicing the scientific method allows students to learn to think critically - to rely on evidence, scrutiny, and skepticism when addressing a problem. Thinking critically is a valuable tool that students will utilize for the rest of their lives. It will allow them to combat misinformation as well as make informed decisions.
