Standard 4: Instructional Strategies

A teacher must understand and use a variety of instructional strategies to encourage student development of critical thinking, problem solving, and performance skills.

My interpretation: A teacher must keep in mind that one of the main goals of education is to teach students how to think and not simply what to think.

I believe that science students need to learn how to think curiously about the world. They need to inquire how natural process occur. As part of my educational psychology course, I found that an inquiry-based pedagogy may help students think critically as well as become more engaged in science class.
