Standard 8: Assessment
A teacher must understand and be able to use formal and informal assessment strategies to evaluate and ensure the continuous intellectual, social, and physical development of the student.
My interpretation: A teacher must understand and regularly use strategies that effectively gauge students' understanding of concepts and performance of skills. A teacher must also be able to design assessments that effectively measure knowledge and skills.

A classmate and I created a rubric for our week long inquiry unit on climate change (see MSEP 10). As an end product to this unit, students would be creating a podcast. The rubric is simple but clearly demonstrates the expectations of their final product.
